I have a little room in my teaching schedule so I am offering two online Master’s-level courses this summer:

EDUC 5001 E50. Special Topics: Leadership During a Crisis (3 credits, online) [Class # 20597]

Crises big and small occur regularly in organizations. The global pandemic has highlighted numerous individual and institutional responses – both successful and unsuccessful – to a major crisis. In this class we are going to talk about crisis leadership. We will highlight the individual / collective mindsets, organizational strategies, leadership behaviors, and support structures necessary to navigate crisis situations. While most organizational crises will be smaller than the COVID-19 pandemic, we can learn lessons from this and other incidents about how to best prepare ourselves to be effective leaders when crises occur. We will do a pre-assessment at the beginning of the course to see what you already know and what you’d like to learn!

Class Meetings

Every Tuesday, June 9 through July 28, 2020. 5pm to 7pm Mountain, in Zoom.
We also will have a Canvas course shell for readings, assignments, and other activities.

[This course will be applicable to both schools and non-education organizations!]

EDUC 5652 E50. Leadership for Social Justice (3 credits, online) [Class # 20596]

In this class we are going to talk about equity literacy, equity visits and audits, how to have difficult conversations about race and racism, equity-focused learning communities, color-brave leadership, and lots of other important stuff. The bulk of our class meeting times each week will be spent addressing real-world, equity-focused school leadership case studies and scenarios. We will do a pre-assessment at the beginning of the course to see what you already know and what you’d like to learn!

Class Meetings

Every Monday, June 8 through July 27, 2020. 5pm to 7pm Mountain, in Zoom.
We also will have a Canvas course shell for readings, assignments, and other activities.

[This course will focus on P-12 school equity issues!]
