Nine considerations when creating a mission or vision statement:

    1. Why do we exist?

    2. What “business” are we in?

    3. What is our most important product/service?

    4. Who are the clients/customers?

    5. Why do they come to us?

    6. How have we changed in the past five years?

    7. What are our unique strengths and major weaknesses?

    8. What philosophical issues are the most important to us?

    9. What would be lost if we ceased to exist?
