Motivated, engaged, challenged, and successful students are well-behaved, not because they’ve been threatened but because they are too busy engaged in learning to misbehave. The goal of classroom management is not quiet classrooms, it’s productive students.

Classroom management stems from the child’s experience in the class and the relationship between student and teacher, not through some high priority to “behave” in the absence of good feelings about being there. I put a lot of emphasis on rethinking homework as it creates a powerful tail that ends up wagging the dog, and takes teachers and parents away from the main goal of childhood and education: to grow and learn and have fun in the process. http://www.thehomeworktrap.com.
