Morning, Scott!

That is a tagline I have been using in my district for the last year or so in an attempt to motivate change. This is me... http://dlaufenberg.pbwiki.com/ or at least some examples of the work I do with kids!

Thanks Scott. I was very pleased to make the short list. I would like to throw my hat into the discussion about the many positive things happening in schools. I am witness to them everyday. My issue is our inability to make them happen consistently throughout more classrooms. If I could hand pick the teachers my kids get, I know they would get an amazing education. Equally, there are teachers that would be unfortunate for my kids to get. Not that they are necessarily bad teachers, but they just don't get it when it comes to 21st century skills.

Dave, you bring up an excellent point. Every school has both phenomenal and struggling teachers. The challenge is to make the excellence more wide-scale and to change the orientation of the system and the faculty to one that is performing at higher levels. Who's responsible for doing this? Who's in charge of 'the system?' The leaders. That's why our work at CASTLE focuses primarily on leadership rather than teachers and students. If the leaders don't 'get it' (whatever it is we want them to 'get'), it's not going to happen...
