I think the blogging project is a great idea. I know of no easier way to communicate with a large number of people. The most recent two blogs I created (since moving from the principalship to the central office) are discussed here: http://frankbuck.blogspot.com/2006/07/two-new-blogs.html
These are a little different from the ones I started either personally or with my school in that the idea with these two is that a variety of people are being encouraged to post. The idea is a little slow in catching on, but we are working on it.

As the Director of Educational Technology in a megadistrict and adjunct in Leadership and Technology at the Uniiversity of Central Florida, I have been a big proponebt of blogs. Recently I have persuaded a number of principals to get on the blogwagon. Fortunately, our X-serve has built-in blogging capability, so I cannot encourage our principals to join this site, but you might be interested in some of their posts.

The technology class for administrators that I currently teach uses blogs in place of "reaction papers". http://eda6260.blogspot.com

Nice! Thank you for this outstanding effort to encourage my colleagues to get on board. I just posted about those who regularly comment on my blog, yet don't have their own blogs. I would love to see what they might initiate on their own. If you need any help from principals who are already blogging, I'm in!

Chris (and Kim), we have you on our list:

http://principalblogs.jot.com/WikiHome/tr0

Keep up the good work. Encourage a principal colleage to try blogging too!

George, thanks so much for sharing the principal blogs from your district. I added them to our list - they're great! I especially liked Elise Gruber's blog - she doesn't even have a building yet but she's doing a fabulous job of keeping everyone posted!

Frank, thanks for being an inspiration to all of us.

I would like to add one to the list of blogs:
http://halhenderson.blogspot.com/ was established by Mrs. Alicia Laros, a 2nd year principal who is doing a superb job at her school.

Also, this is slightly off-topic, and I don't know if you would want to include these on the list, but I invite readers to take a look at two blogs we created for our school system as a whole:
TalladegaCitySchools.blogspot.com is designed to be a vehicle for the us to communicate with the community. We are trying to get at least one person in each school contributing. This makes our blog a bit more unique instead of having one person author all posts, it's open to different people.
TeachTalladega.blogspot.com is a tool for us to communicate with school system employees. It's much easier to have a thought and that thought be available to the entire school system within 2 minutes than to write a memo, Xerox bunches of copies, and let the memo work its way down the chain and finally get to the teacher a week from Tuesday.
